It is here that the earth, sands, lime, and other aggregates form carefully crafted mixtures. It is here that the textured fabrics and smoother papers are layered, where pigments and shades are measured: each project has its own composition, carefully cataloged. Because in order to create exceptional decorative pieces, giving them uniqueness and character, it is essential to first develop their fundamental substance. Then come the gesture, the craftsmanship, and the art.
In terms of luxury decor, marquetry is part of the ancient French and Italian crafts, originally practiced by cabinetmaker artists… which the Ateliers Berger have reappropriated.
To develop this expertise, the Ateliers Berger had to innovate in terms of materials, supports, and implementation techniques, which are carefully kept secret.
What is also unique is using engraved moving decor to create the marquetry, thus creating a double optical effect of extreme refinement.
It allows for an infinite variety of combinations, enabling one to play with light and transform the perceptions of volume, color, and texture.
